Minnesota Daily journalists Macalus and Steinberg covered two regents’ insistence that they had conducted their own research that contradicted the findings of the Task Force on Building Names and Institutional History. The journalists interviewed historians from the University of Michigan and New York University, experts in American history and higher education, who explained that the regents did not appear to understand that documents needed to be analyzed within larger historical contexts. Students found the regents’ claims unconvincing.
