Students at Hillel House in1946. Members of the Jewish communities of the Twin Cities contributed to purchasing this house to have a place for Jewish students from both in and out of state to gather. Previously, Jewish students and faculty had been part of the University of Minnesota Menorah Society, which was founded at Harvard University in 1906, and was part of University life in the 1910s forward.
